Madison School Board to Vote on a Proposed Charter Elementary School of Arts & Technology

The Madison Board of Education is scheduled to act on Monday evening (4/24) on a request relating to a proposed charter elementary school of arts and technology.
The Board will vote on whether or not to support a grant application to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for funds to support planning of The Studio School by a group of educators, parents and others. The Board’s meeting, which begins at 5:00 pm, will be held in the McDaniel’s Auditorium at the district offices at 545 West Dayton Street. [map]

  1. I’m sorry to say that I encourage the school board not to support the application of The Studio School. As a post below notes the constructivisit theory of The Studio School has given the educational establishment several failed curricula: Everyday Math, Core Math, Reading Recovery, and Balanced Literacy. The MMSD would be unwise to support a school based on failed theory.

    ps. I don’t care whether the theory arises from Marxism, Maoism, or capitalism. I can’t support it because it doesn’t work.
