School Information System

Notes on flexible k-12 Governance

Will Flanders:

This article treats an apparently easy process to start a private school as if it’s a bad thing. I think low barriers to entry are great. The beauty of a private relative to a public school is if it doesn’t meet the needs of students, it will close.

Michael Torres:

Ok…so…in sum, a group of investigative reporters attempted to commit performative fraud (I guess?) by launching fake private schools in 3 ESA states, but didn’t do any investigation into the extent this performative fraud is happening in real life or prove that they could even recruit students/families to join their fake schools…all in an allusory attempt to establish a dearth of quality and thereby advocate for greater state regulation of private schools and microschools…and while conveniently leaving out research from @ua_edreform and NC State University showing students in these programs are performing very well academically.
