One response to “Oprah on Education: What Bill & Melinda Gates Want You To Know”

  1. Time Magazine April 17 cover story “Dropout Nation” covers the Gates Foundation report. The magazine addresses “just how few dropouts report being overwhelmed academically. Fully 88% said they had passing grades in high school. Asked to name the reasons they had left school, more respondents named boredom than struggles with course work.”
This seems consistent with other research cited on this blog about the high potential achievement capability of Madison’s drop outs and minority population, and the notion that they could benefit from opportunities for diversified and advanced curriculum challenges, along with the proper school and community supports.
