Childhood Cancer Risk After Assisted Reproductive Technology
Katrine Mose, Susanne K. Kjaer and Allan Jensen
Question Are children conceived through assisted reproductive technology (ART) at increased risk of childhood cancer?
Findings In a Danish nationwide cohort (N = 1 086 136), children conceived using ART had higher cancer incidence than those not conceived using ART (23.6 vs 18.3 per 100 000 person-years; hazard ratio, 1.26), with the highest incidence observed after frozen embryo transfer (41.1) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (27.9). Associations with selected cancer types were observed for these treatments but not for in vitro fertilization, and findings were similar using alternative comparison groups.
