College football has owners now

Matt Hayes:

Who cares if it unfolded in a world of frustration, it’s all about intent and meaning.

Texas Tech billionaire booster Cody Campbell said the quiet part out loud Saturday afternoon, a brief, two sentence, 17-word red line on X after a galling 37-24 loss to Cincinnati as a double-digit favorite.

It ain’t good enough.

And if you didn’t think college football teams had owners before, you sure as all get out do now.

There’s no excuse or reason to lose a game like this. We have to be better. @TexasTechFB.

Now, more harsh reality: Campbell isn’t backing down. In fact, he’s doubling down.

He said it, he means it — and he wants results.

“It’s the whole ‘team’ — which these days includes all of us. Players, coaches, administrators, boosters,” Campbell told USA TODAY Sports on Monday. “In today’s landscape, we are all part of what happens out there. I’m not pointing fingers at any individual.”

But he’s making it very clear and concise that things have to change.
