Only in Illinois can a governor hike taxes 63 times, drain $85.6 billion from residents, and then throw himself a parade for “financial responsibility.”
It is totally fair for @GovPritzker to brag about any state credit rating upgrades that take place on his watch. Any other leader would undoubtedly do the exact same.
But at least be honest about the means by which you are signaling to credit agencies that Illinois’ books are closer to balanced: $86 billion in tax hikes.
This is the opposite of fiscal discipline.

Pritzker: “Democrats want to cut taxes for everyday people.”
Also Pritzker: 7% statewide tax on Netflix, concerts, and sports, on top of Chicago’s 10.25% tax on streaming at home.
House Democrats pushed that last fall. In Chicago, it would have meant about 17% on streaming and nearly 19% on tickets. Lollapalooza said the tax threatened the festival.
Under Pritzker, Illinois now has the highest combined state and local tax rate in America. At least 63 tax and fee hikes. $77 billion in cumulative costs to taxpayers over 8 years. About $1,400 more a year for the median household.

Ah yes, Illinois… a famous Republican stronghold.
We’ve had 4 years of a Republican governorship since 2003 and even he had Democratic supermajorities in the House and Senate.
Illinois is world famous for terrible Democratic governance. This is a truly absurd comment.
