Employment conditions may influence teachers’ career choices more than salaries
High levels of teacher turnover can negatively affect student achievement. Like any profession, remuneration is an important component of whether teachers stay or leave the profession. TALIS data show, however, that other considerations such as part-time or full-time positions, contract stability and working conditions can be as important or even more important in some countries.
