Seeking more taxpayer funds for the “Universities of Wisconsin”

Sabine Martin:

The UW system plans to request $240 million solely for economic development initiatives, he said, but he wouldn’t specify how much the initiatives announced Wednesday are expected to cost.

Other priorities include UW for U, which would support continuing education and online learning, and U Succeed, which would fund academic and career advising. 

On Monday, the UW system said it will request $90 million to train 35,000 new healthcare workers over the next decade and $25 million to advance research on cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other diseases.
