Former Madison schools aide police say fed student dog food won’t be charged

Chris Rickert:

A Madison School District employee who admitted to feeding dog food to a disabled student at Madison East High School will not be charged with a crime, a police spokesperson said Thursday.

Stephanie Fryer said police decided around April 9 that no charges would be referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office against the former special education assistant in connection with the Feb. 13 incident. The Wisconsin State Journal is not naming the man because he’s not been charged with a crime.

According to an affidavit filed in circuit court on March 23, the man told East Assistant Principal Mike Gonzalez on Feb. 16 that feeding the 15-year-old autistic, nonverbal student from a can of dog food “was a mistake,” the affidavit says.
