Madison teacher’s texts to student highlight school policy gaps

Online court records show Goldman posted $5,000 for bail and his next court date is May 11. Goldman’s attorney didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The school district placed Goldman on leave and is conducting an internal investigation. In a statement, the district didn’t indicate whether Goldman was on leave with or without pay.

The state Department of Public Instruction, which licenses teachers, is also investigating Goldman, according to online licensing records.

The recent Cap Times investigation examined a prior case in the Madison school district involving David Kruchten, an East High School teacher now serving 12 years in prison after recording students with hidden cameras. Three students who were a part of a lawsuit against the district told the Cap Times that Madison schools had failed to protect them from being groomed by Kruchten.
