UW-Madison requiring students to share vaccine status following measles case

Corrinne Hess:

Previously, students could decide if they wanted to report their vaccine status to the university.

John Lucas, spokesperson for UW-Madison said about one-third of current students have voluntarily provided vaccine information to date.

Lucas said UW-Madison is the only Big Ten school without a disclosure requirement.

No other Universities of Wisconsin campuses require students to be vaccinated against measles or provide their vaccination status.

In a statement to WPR, system spokesperson Mark Pitsch said, “In recent months, there have been ongoing discussions about MMR vaccination and disclosure.”
