Notice this 8th grade graduation exam from 1912 – could most college students pass it today?

Bartemy Jones:

I’ve been stewing on this for years. As someone who went to Public school and then had my own kids in a combination of homeschool, private school and public school, I watched kids struggle through a public school system that feels more like indoctrination than inspiration, it’s clear education isn’t what it used to be.

Remember when schools built thinkers, that knew not only a lot of facts, but also how those facts related to life? Those days are gone, largely thanks to a left-leaning agenda that’s twisted learning into a vehicle for socialist ideals. But let’s dive in.

History shows us the way back

Education has always been the bedrock of a free society. It’s how we pass on wisdom, foster independence, and build a nation of self-reliant citizens. But over time, it’s been co-opted. In world history, socialists saw schools as prime real estate for their collectivist dreams. Take this gem from early Marxist thinkers: “He who has the school has the future.” That’s from a 1918 piece by Eden and Cedar Paul, emphasizing how socialists aimed to mold kids through education to align with their ideals.
