America’s Future Depends on Our Families

heritage:

The family is the foundation of civilization, and marriage—the committed union of one man and one woman—is its cornerstone.

As the most essential institution in society, every good thing in society flows from the family. Getting married, starting a family, and building a legacy are not just personal choices. They are the American Dream. The natural family—virtuous, faithful, and growing—is the center of American life. Stay-at-home moms are heroes, and involved fathers are vital. Both shape tomorrow’s leaders.

The weakening of the family as the cornerstone of our country has led to a loneliness, commitment, and demographic crisis that endangers both the American Dream and America’s place in the world. Conservatives can no longer stand by as the American family breaks down. We must propose bold, novel policy solutions that encourage family formation. Marriage and parenthood should not just be possible but should be desirable again. We seek an America where a husband, his wife, and their children are protected by law, encouraged by government, and supported by societal institutions so that they may prosper in peace and security, and pass on our heritage to subsequent generations.
