Nearly 2,500 people applied to attend the law school this fall, Scheller said. That’s a 36% increase over last year and the school’s highest amount in 15 years.
UW-Madison tends to receive about 1,600 to 1,800 applications in a typical year, Scheller said.
Law schools across the country reported an 18% increase in applicants during the 2025 admissions cycle. Preliminary numbers suggest this rise may continue, according to the Law School Admission Council, a Pennsylvania organization that tracks enrollment data.
