His nonpartisan group has fought budget deficits since it was created in the 1980s, those long-gone days of backslapping compromises between Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill, before politics became a blood sport.
My reaction to a conversation with Murphy is that he makes a tough ask of thoughtful people on the center and left in places like Madison.
