I have been to MIT’s OCW web site several times. It is a great educational resource, especially for teachers. It contains detailed course information for most of MIT’s undergraduate courses and many of its graduate ones. One can see not only detailed syllabi, but even complete sets of homework assignments and exams for each course. With heterogeneous ability grouping, will MMSD’s top high school students be adequately prepared in the future to take such high-level courses when they arrive at top colleges such as MIT?

I don’t think it’s the top high school students that we need to be worrying about. Speaking as someone who was in gifted and talented programs from elementary school through high school, the smart ones rarely need any extra help to seek out whatever resources they need to learn and achieve at the highest levels.
