  1. Prior to the show, let’s start a dialog, I’d like to ask a few questions. I personally think there are 2 sets of concerns at stake here. One of parental rights and one of school financial ability. So let’s come out and ask:
    Should parents pick curriculum?
If so, who? Which set of parents get to pick?
How do we raise awareness, family involvement and continue to balance all parental concerns?
Given mandates, legal obligations and financial stress (which most our candidates seem to recognize) of our Wisconsin public schools, how do maintain quality?
How do we balance and be everything to everyone? And … Can we?
I suspect no simple solution…and hope to hear from a variety of backgrounds and experience.

  2. “..Back in Charge” to do what? The “what” is important.
Two years ago, during the 2004 Board campaign, a parent argued that math should be cut in high school, because in his entire 55 years of living, he’d never once had the need to do algebra or trig. “Kids only need to learn to add, and subtract, multiple, and divide. Let the colleges teach them the other stuff”.
Okay, what does it mean to put parents in charge?
